I am Annelies, an illustrator living in The Netherlands with my husband, two kids, two cats and a lot of stuffed animals. As long as I can remember I have always been drawing, painting, sketching and crafting with paper and glue, reading and writing as a kid. Somehow I lost these passions and got sidetracked growing up and living life. But always my hands would ‘itch’ in wanting to make something. So one day I decided to stop letting fear hold me back and chose to live bravely…

And I did! Over 10 years ago I decided to turn over my life completely and started from scratch as an independent graphic designer. Having no experience in this field I followed my two mottos: ‘I want to make beautiful things that make you happy‘  and ‘I have never tried that before, so I think I should definitely be able to do that‘.

From that moment I started creating again and I have not stopped since. I could not be happier!

I am the founder and owner of Studio ZooLies, a versatile agency that specializes in creative productions from (cultural) events to illustrative design. In this past decade I have come across numerous exciting opportunities, worked for a lot of different clients and I have met even more interesting and beautiful people who have enriched my life.

I have never regretted the decision to live bravely and follow my passions and learn new things. As an illustrator I love to draw for children – the small and the big ones 😉 – I have a passion for creating fun characters and love to bring a smile to your face with my illustrations.  My style is animated  and sometimes a bit quirky and has a mix of modern and vintage. But always with a bit of humour, humanity and kindness.
